Love Poem

I like your outfit
The way you do your hair just so and your tie just right
And it feels like a million bucks to have you there because with you, I feel special
Who knows why you think I am — I have not figured that one out yet
And yet
We go on protesting issues with “I don’t want this” and “you change that”
We’re a mile and a half away from one another but it feels like 500
And when we argue you can add an ocean
A broken-down car
A boat with no oars
A map without a compass
A sky without stars
It’s with a heavy head that I make my bed and lie in it
Alone
Again
