The Glass Jar

Poem

 

As you sleep I just wanted to let you know I love you
Nothing crazy
But it’s like I have a million fireflies trapped in a jar that are beating themselves
Against the glass with hope and fear and that’s my heart that burns for you
As I try to contain it with a calm exterior
Instead writing this poem
That you will never read
