Life Poem

Sometimes it comes back…
Like cat who’s been away on a spree,
Or like the smell of a night flower,
Blooming again for the summer.

Sometimes it comes back,
And it feels so familiar and soft,
It feels like a moment I missed,
Appearing in the rose light of memory.

Sometimes it comes back…
The consequence, and why it left,
And the pain close behind it,
Opening wounds I’d tried to heal.

I felt it close today.
The nostalgia, the bittersweet taste,
But this time, I stopped my senses.
And turned my back- moving forward.
