Manifesto

Our Manifesto

Image Curve is an exhaust mechanism: a creative outlet for anyone with a sharp pencil. We live to get high on language. We believe language is the universal art-form of human experience – the mouthpiece of a soul, a generation, or a god. If you write with your leg this is the place for you. If you read with your leg and can explain what is that supposed to mean, this is the place for you.

We are hungry for fiction. Image Curve is an online site for serial publication where writers can publish fiction in a weekly installment format. We are a home for the short story and the poem. We believe in the work and its original form, and we have an abnormal respect for anyone who can string words together in stories of any type, shape or form.

We love reading well-written, unfiltered, contemporary fiction by creative people of all backgrounds. We love the classics and pay them a visit often, but we want to be on the cutting edge of current fiction. We want to observe, empathize and contemplate how our collective global society digests the world and then spits it out. Most importantly, without the filtering machine of agencies and publishers that only select marketable works.

We believe free thought is on the brink of extinction. It is up to us to save our creativity from rigidly structured rules – from pay-per-word arrangements that kill original ideas. We are centered around something else: people, stories, ideas, sentences, phrases, words, letters and sounds. We cherish their random flow through lives of families, friends, and utter strangers. We bind them into tales and share them with all of humanity.

We are an outlet for all. We believe ordinary people need fiction as much as water. Save literature. Save it from capitalism, communism, alcoholism and all the -isms that try to shape the written word into their own design. Free thought is not quite free in out mercantile times. Let us use this space to introduce freedom, to let literature flow freely, everywhere, to everyone. We strive to be the place where all varieties of writers can mingle – wearing a mask if they choose to. We are a blank sheet for all to express their ideas, without middlemen.

Sometimes we need masks in order to create freely. Masks of anonymity, eccentricity, prosperity – you name it. While other times we express our freedom by shouting from the rooftop – yelling loud, without judgment.

We say: Let us write freely with open mind and let us share those stories with everyone. We don’t need brokers, paper, or bookstores. We just tell tales of all sorts, dressed in their best clothes.

We are an island outside time.

Let’s write, let’s read, let’s share!
