Hearing Our Name

Poem

Time is precious, lost time is everywhere
Lost friends, lost connections, lost chances
We are always struggling to not be left behind
The boats keep moving forward
And we keep fearing the fall
Fear is what moves us
Anxiety permits when we miss
Because suddenly we feel the boats’ distance
We all need a lifebuoy flung to us
We all are looking for someone who hasn’t forgotten about us
Someone who notices when we are not there
And urgently calls for us
Making us able to finally swim to their voice
And feel the comfort of hearing our name
Reversing the pallor of turning into a ghostly frame
We remember who we are
When someone shows us that they love us for it
And remembers us for our vivid colors
So we can bounce with them
From hue to hue
As we travel through the rainbows
