New Poetry

It began simply, and it grew,
Layer by layer.
Days, months, years-
It became the size of a softball,
And the smell…strong.

I began to peel, and I knew
Layer by layer,
Was days, months, years-
With tears and pains it shrank
And my resolve became…strong.

Become as began,
Return to regain.
The pearl was protected,
Now let layers fall away.

It began simply,
And it grew strong.
