Poem

If I didn’t write this down I’d forget it forever
With my sieve-like mind and good intentions
But the words cut through the head fog
Right now, you are everything — precious, amazing, talented, strong
As you leave me awe-struck with your words and phrases
Turning over your ideas and running with them through the fields
Like streamers waving behind you as you gleefully let the grass whip your thighs
Into the haze of a late summer night
And you look back with a smile
Holding out your hand
Waiting for me to catch up
