Poem

you are the warmth in my heart that melted the glass
that pierced the veil that covered my widowed heart as the
their freed withholdings fell down from the counter like waterfalls
that threatened to flood the very ground we walked on as the bees swarmed around us
honey, i tell you
when im with you, I am blown by the winds you put to my sails
even when i try to keep my flags at half mast
past when they’ve outlived their own mourning period and I refuse to be
taken down as easily again by someone else’s choice
but you
choose
to stay
