Serial Gothic Poem

He frowned at her sternly.
“You are…connected. You see and hear
What others do not.
The heavenly realm calls to you.”

She twisted her pale hands.
“I’ve always felt that He speaks to me,”
She whispered sadly.
“So why are these things happening?”

He moved his chair closer.
“I don’t know for sure, but I can guess,”
He paused at a tear
That rolled unbidden from her eye.

Taking her hands, he spoke:
“You are open to angels and God,
But that leaves you bare-
To the dark, the Devil himself.”
