So Long

Contemporary Poem

 

In the few days you have on this earth
You come to believe you are invincible
Walk the land like it has always belonged to you

You have created your troubles and sorrows
Have let your selfish desires and opinions
Blindfold your eyes and shut out your heart

You are now old and will leave behind dust
Disappear and no one will think to care
So long to the one chance you had
