Poem

They say there’s an island of trash in the Pacific
As big as a continent
Bigger than Texas
The combined efforts of years of plastics that banded together with fishing nets
And old ropes and became
The most useless things floating halfway between ourselves and the other
Half of the world
Which is to say, is any one side to blame
More than any other
We mutually built this wall after all
And phone calls go
Both ways
