Out of Reach

sad love poetry

Love Poem

You are the object of my affection
and the subject of these words
I want to write about you in each open space
on this blank sheet of matter
and immortalize the wonder
that is your twisted mind
that is your funny heart
that is the sparkle in your dark eyes
that all spark a pulse in my heart.

I want to write about you until
the sun and moon finally meet in passing
on their eternal circulation through
the untouchable black of our universe,
as the gravity of you, my sun,
keeps my orbit on course,
but holds me at a distance from you
and those warm, rough, empty hands,
keeping me only just
out of reach.
