Poems About Nature

Twisting out from the ground
Making a reach out to the impossible
Leaning into the wind
The music of gnarled roots
Pulsing through chipping
Skin and veins

A dog curls up
Underneath her outstretched wing
They stay together in the warmth
The sun yellowing the grass
The faint cheerful squeals of a harmonica
Drifts across the hilly field
A lullaby and an accompaniment
To the tree’s silent song.
