Chasing Wonder

Poem

An adventure up in the hills
In the wind and sun
Finding the canyons
Green and yellow
And the brothers climbing
Through the boulders
Children at heart
Friends flying on swings
Over the hillsides
Imagining leaping
Into vastness
Dogs running up the dusty trails
Feeling gravity
Sliding down, vertical and steep
The tall grass whispering
Our knees pushing us up and forward
In the midst of the city
In an ocean of urban terrain
We stand on an island of grandness
A haven of trees and fairy tales
Magic, folklore, and wooden pine
Warm air, sweet rosemary
Fantasy weaving up and around
Sun rays beaming through the treetops
A halo of wonder
For us to chase
