When It’s Done

Mountain Lake

What’s in that place beyond the pines?
The dark recesses and cragged peaks
Valleys that swirl with sumptuous lavenders and honeyed golds
Caverns enswirled by misty hues of turquoise deep
The fronds that billow in the tepid heat of far-off jungles
Constellations left unnamed, unseen by man
Mirages of lives we’ll never know
The poems yet unwritten
The words left unsaid
